Today Belarus celebrates Independence Day - the main holiday of Belarusian statehood.
The decision to celebrate Independence Day on July 3 was made in 1996 at a republican referendum. In the same year, by decree of President Alexander Lukashenko, a public holiday was established - Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus (Republic Day). It is celebrated on the day of the liberation of Minsk from Nazi invaders - July 3, 1944. This holiday has become a symbol of the national revival of our state.
